Louis Koo (古天樂) joins showbiz for 25 years and finally won Best Actor award (最佳男主角) based on Paradox (殺破狼‧貪狼) film in The 37th Hong Kong Film Awards (香港電影金像獎) at night on 15th April 2018. He was nominated for the same award based on Run Papa Run (一個好爸爸) and The White Storm (掃毒) movies previously but lost it eventually.
It was Louis’s first time to win the victory and defeat strong opponents consisting of Andy Lau (劉德華), Ling Man Lung (凌文龍), Ronald Cheng (鄭中基) and Tian Zhuangzhuang (田壯壯). Louis also won Best Actor award based on the same film in The 12th Asian Film Awards (第12屆亞洲電影大獎) and Hong Kong Film Directors Awards (香港電影導演會年度大獎), including Weibo Movie King (微博影帝).
Louis delivered his thank you speech on the stage: “I have been very nervous for the past few days and wonder if I can get it this time. What should Hong Kong artiste do in order to film Hong Kong movies well? I used to film drama with Chor Yuen (楚原) in TVB and he received Lifetime Achievement award. I then asked him how to film good movies as a director and he told me please do not forget every scene as you could not give up on a good movie. We knew Pauline (楊容蓮) when she received the award and she brought us lots of joy. Hong Kong must unite together and release good local films.” Lastly, he expressed his gratitude towards Sammo Hung (洪金寶) for inviting him to film action movies although he was not an action actor.
