Charmaine has filmed several classic Hong Kong series. Apparently after Ms Hong Kong beauty pageant, she thought about withdrawing when filming TVB series initially. During an interview at a Chinese show (熟悉的味道) and when asked if anyone criticised she had poor acting skills at the time, Charmaine replied immediately: “Yes. I feel like leaving showbiz at the time. I have tried my best and perhaps acting is not my forte. However, I keep shooting series subsequently and have no time to think about it. I remembered there was a scene that I acted as a wife and was required to cry but I had no tears. They waited for me a long time and I used eye drop eventually. I proceeded to shoot The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain (雪山飛狐) drama and my opponent taught me lots of stuff. He loves to study and I start to improve. I love to film Return of the Cuckoo (十月初五的月光) series as it has a happy plot line and there is no crying scenes. During the shooting for The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain (十月初五的月光) drama, I have to cry bitterly and detest it as I am not a teary person.”
Looking back at the record, Charmaine emerged as the second-runner up in 1997 Ms Hong Kong beauty pageant and made her debut in 1998. She begun to shoot series such as The Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain, Detective Investigations Files IV (刑事偵緝檔案IV) and Time Off (生命有TAKE2) as the female leads. Time Off drama is most likely Charmaine’s first series as the shooting takes place in April 1998 and she acts as a married person. It is highly likely that this series is the one which makes her considering to withdraw from the showbiz at the time.
