Based on a news report, Fred Cheng’s (鄭俊弘) attitude is pointed to turn worse and refuse to answer phone calls ever since his romance with Stephanie Ho (何雁詩) is exposed. Hence, his role character in Daddy Cool (逆緣) drama is replaced by Carlos Chan (陳家樂) who gains fame and receives recognition from the public successfully.
Fred recorded TVB programme, Cantopop at 50 (流行經典50年) at night on 20th April 2018 and tried to defend himself: “Do you think I dare to miss the phone calls? Of course not. I explained to the television producer, Amy Wong (王心慰) that I felt embarrassed at the time and she was worried about me failing to handle the stress. Plus, it was not confirmed that the role character belonged to me. She then told me to take it easy and have some rest first as my personal affairs may affect my work. I also register for overseas studies and have no free schedule for them. Anyway, she gives me a chance to sing the theme song and hope we get to work again next time.” Fred revealed he watched the drama and praised Carlos acted very well.
When asked if he regretted for losing the opportunity, Fred said: “It depends on the timing and I can wait for it next time.” He admitted his relationship did affect his work and will try his best to do his part well.
