Jason Chan (陳智燊) explained the reason for leaving TVB at a book exhibition in Wan Chai on 21st July 2018. He admitted his contract had expired long ago and Ms Virginia Lok (樂易玲), Ms Catherina Tsang (曾勵珍) and Ms Sandy Yue (余詠珊) took turn to discuss his contract renewal but decided to leave eventually: “Rejected to renew my contract is unrelated to TVB. I wish to venture overseas and try new stuff such as performing stage play and shooting films before the baby is born. Although I do not want to leave, but I need to do my part well sine I am a married man and becoming a father soon.” Mentioning about his wife, Sarah Song (宋熙年), Jason replied the company doted on her and her work was considered stable. Her contract had not expired and his departure did not have much impact on her.
