Blockbuster film, Avengers: Infinity War (復仇者聯盟3：無限之戰) was finally released on 25th April 2018 and many cinema invited many celebrities including TVB “A Class” actor, Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) to watch the movie premiere. However, a heated argument between the promotion staff and Benjamin happened over a pack of nachos on the same day.
Subsequently, that staff posted the incident to Facebook after watching the film. He started to reprimand: “That TVB artiste assumes he is a big shot and has a poor attitude just like what TVB veteran artiste have mentioned before. He begins to feel mad upon assuming people are looking at him and tell me to eat my nachos softly in a rude tone. Do you think you are very popular and can tell people rudely?”
People then begin to guess the identity of that “rude” TVB artiste and Benjamin admitted he was the actor that they referred to. He then forwarded the message from that staff and replied: “Please stop guessing and I am that artiste. I was supposed to enjoy the film and leave a bad impression to my colleagues as a result. I apologise for causing a bad evening to everybody.”
Benjamin also made some clarification: “I need to clarify that I do not use rude eye expression to look at all of you. I only told that staff who was eating nachos to eat softly in a courteous tone and apologise for the inconvenience. That staff appeared cooperative but his friend sat besides him and said to me that I did not book the whole theatre and the cinema allowed food and drinks. He assumed I thought myself as a big shot and should not take the free ticket to watch the film. Wait a minute…… It is human nature to feel angry at that moment and I told him that I did apologise and tell you to eat softly with courtesy. That staff said okay and he will post the whole incident online. I nodded and left together with my colleagues thereafter. I want to make clear that I allow him to eat but please be considerate and eat it softly, so that everyone can enjoy the movie. In addition, we are invited by the organisation committee as the guests and there is no distinction between upper and lower classes. Please stop the argument and I will be responsible for my actions. Regardless of who you are, appreciate if you can be reasonable and give respect to each other. Thank you.” After Benjamin’s rebuttal, that staff deleted his comment in the afternoon on 26th April 2018.
Priscilla Wong (黃翠如) was present at a cosmetic event at the Central at night on 26th April 2018 and when mentioned about Benjamin’s incident, she did not read the news but defend him: “He is a gentlemen and straightforward person. (Is he a bad-tempered man?) He is a good brother to me and I do not feel he is a bad-tempered person. (Benjamin is pointed as a big shot?) From my understanding, he is a thoughtful man and does not treat himself as a big shot at all.”
In addition, a radio DJ (阿檸) was at the same scene and revealed that staff had an unreasonable request of telling him to sit lower: “It is because you are nobody and can say whatever you want on the Internet.”
